Medical marijuana has been signed into law in Kentucky!

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services will be in charge of administering, operating, overseeing, and regulating the program, as well as the cultivators, dispensaries, and producers, under SB 47.

Kentucky’s MMJ program allows patients with one of the six qualifying medical conditions to get a medical marijuana card. These conditions include any form of cancer, regardless of stage; chronic, severe, intractable, or debilitating pain; epilepsy or any other seizure disorder that is difficult to manage; multiple sclerosis, muscle spasms, or spasticity; chronic nausea that has not responded to other conventional treatments; and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Patients who have a medical condition or disease and are determined by the newly established Kentucky Center for Cannabis at the University of Kentucky to benefit from the use of medical marijuana may also be eligible.

In order to get a Kentucky medical marijuana card, patients must be 18 years or older or a caretaker for a child who meets the eligibility criteria.
